ok so last night I got together with some girlfriends and we all did our hair. my friend was helping me bleach my hair in streaks, that I then dyed manic panic pillarbox red. unfortunately, the bleaching was uneven, and there are weird spots where the bleach either didn't get the roots evenly or at all, or there is a big splot where it covered a wider patch at the top than the rest of the strand. now I have to going crawling back to my hairdresser to fix the problem. Any tips, insights, commiseration? I feel bad that my friend knows I don't like it, but I have to be honest, ya know. Perhaps the moral of the story is, friends don't let friends do their hair?

Re: failed experiments
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 2:20 PMaww, I think we've all had hair dyeing failures. It just sucks when it's on your head!
This is part of thing about having wild hair, we're willing to take risks, right?
I've also had issues doing streaks of bleach, it really is hard to get them to absorb evenly and not get bleach where you don't want it... And if your hair is already dyed - you likely have layers of different levels of color underneath. That makes a big impact on how even your bleach develops. So, I don't think it was your friend, I just think that unless you're really an expert it's a challenge to get streaks to behave. -

Re: failed experiments
Wed, December 7, 2005 - 2:55 PMthanks for your words. My friend will definitely feel better after hearing that. I will feel better after seeing my hairdresser.
I'm wearing a hat today.....and until I see my hairdresser Friday. One of these days, hopefully, I'll get the courage to do my own exphairiment again.
