So let's try to get together after Thanksgiving!

I suggest all who are interested prepare a bit by checking out this link, for ideas & inspiration: www.morbidoutlook.com/fashion...tic.html

A friend of mine knows about a shop in Oakland where they have good range and low price for synthetic hair. I'll get the adress!

If anyone will want to do dreads, we'll need one of those spin-thingies that makes 'braids' (I won't get mine back until March) and a _hot_ blowdrier. (Dreads take 'forever'...)

We should also stop by a fabric store for pieces if lace etc.

If someone has a car (I don't!) we can go to my place (San Pablo) after doing shopping in Oakland, unless anyone have a better idea :)

I can bring my gluegun if any will want fake extentions put in :D

I would love to get together! I have a box of colored synth hair for making dread falls - I always make about 2 dreads, then stuff them back in the closet, so it'd be good to have some group motivation!

I admit it. I bought a spinny thing. Mine only has two grabby bits, so it's more of a twist than a braid. I jumped on the bandwagon too early.

Then my blowdryer broke, and hasn't been replaced 'cause I cut off all my hair. But I'm sure we could borrow my better half's heat gun, if we really need serious heat for the synthetics.

I wanna learn how to make fake dreads! I'm hopeless at crafty things. Are we thinking later Thanksgiving weekend, or after it's all over after?

im in! I would love to learn to do dreads (for later adding to my very very short :( hair) and silky dreads. Also, a real-life example of a box-braid would be helpful. I havent figured that one out yet

    Yey!

In my experience the twistie-thingie is _perfect_ for making synthetic braids :D

I'll be away for Thxg, but have a wide open schedule after the 28th or 29th.

I'd be down with going to SF - prob'ly easier accessible than San Pablo ;P
I'm sure there must be fair priced hair shops there, too! (I've only lived in the US for a couple of weeks, so I'm not too familiar here yet...)

I could do either SF or Eastbay. My house might work--it's near ashby bart, but there are furry critters(2 rats 1 cat) there that some people may be allergic to, and a lack of electrical outlets in the common areas. But it could still work if there aren't too many of us.

        :( Kitties make me sneeze.

I'd offer up my place, but Alameda is nowhere near BART.

oof. yesterday I bought some synthetic hair. I accidently dropped it and now its in a big messy pile on the floor. so I said, ok, let's try making dreads. I failed miserably. hee

lets definately get togevver. I need the help! :)

Where can we meet? I am free this coming weekend. I just need to decide what color falls I want to make. Flourescent orange? Green? Purple? Or should I do a more "natural" color?

I go to this place near my work because it is convenient for me... on telegraph at 20th st. it also seems to be fairly cheap to average as far as price goes. they have mostly natural colors, but there are a few funky ones.

I haven't bought hair online, but dr locks, ragdolly, and tartblossom have been recommended. You are likely to have a bigger selection of unnatural hues from these places. the best site i've found for general info about various types of fake hair, www.btinternet.com/~quinnst...hair.html
has links to places to buy it.

There are many places in the bay area, but I haven't really shopped around.
