I just ordered the 4oz. bottle of Manic Panic's Vampire Red Gel... I now have a few days to ponder. I plan on chunking and highlighting sections of my hair, which is a dark auburn / almost medium reddish brown - not dark burnette. I am not pre-bleaching. Can anybody give me a clue on what my results will be? (Too subtle? Although I'm not expecting "Bozo".) I have seen pictures of non-bleached hair after this color job, and they all look great, but so different. (I understand if I was blonde, I would have better results, but I'm not.)
Does anyone with my color range have any result stories that they wish to share? And how long should I keep this lusious color dye in for best results?

is the dark auburn / almost medium reddish brown your natural color? If it is allready colored the cuticle is open and will accept the Manic Panic better. It will be a pretty bright red for a couple of weeks and then start fading. Try to wash and rinse hair with cool water and always condition to lock in color for as long as possible. Everyone's hair porosity is different so even if they had the same color range as you what color you get and how long it stays varies greatly.

if im not mistaken, manic panic works as a stain over your hair color anyhow, if it is too dark and you stain over it with a darker color then it will be twice as dark, ive put raw on my hair in purple nad my hair is dark brown and it turns out black every time, the bleach is basically to give it something neutral to stain over, this is why some blues turn out teal, the bleach is too yellow... it should work nicely with an auburn-brownish hair color if youre putting in red, although it may turn out darker than you expected at first.

Thank you much! I have always colored my hair using semi-permanent dyes that last about six weeks, (if you use care in washing). I am hoping that this Vamp Red will last for the same time...

My experience suggests that you'll get just a bit of a reddish cast over dark hair, and that it will be gone in a week or two.

Ooow, I'm bummed, that doesn't last very long at all!
Is it longer lasting if I use the bleaching kit, then color, verses just coloring unbleached hair? And if I bleach, will I be left with stark yellowed bleached sections after the red wears out?
( I really appriciate your advice! )
